Kalimpong town plus the quieter hamlets — Lava, Lolegaon, Rishyap, Icchey Gaon, Tinchuley
Kalimpong sits at about 1,250 metres, lower and often milder than Darjeeling. Deolo Hill, Durpin Monastery, flower nurseries and a compact bazaar define the town. Many travellers add one night here on a Darjeeling–Sikkim circuit, or use it as a base for the eastern hamlets.
Offbeat stays nearby include Lava and Lolegaon (pine and canopy walks), Rishyap, Icchey Gaon and Tinchuley — small village ridges with homestays and valley views. October to May is the comfortable season across this belt.
Clear Deolo mornings and open village views.
Cool, dry days in town; cold nights in Lava.
Nurseries and hillside blossom.
Green hills and mist in the offbeat hamlets.
