Jim Corbett

India’s oldest national park — a forest night after the lake, not a guaranteed tiger photograph

A safari morning, then a quiet resort afternoon

Jim Corbett National Park sits in the Ramganga valley below the Kumaon hills. The week most families book is Nainital first, then two nights at a forest resort and one jeep safari — zone and permit depending on the day. Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna and the others are not interchangeable; we confirm the zone when we quote.

The park is the reason, not a drive-through. Sightings are never promised. Closed periods and monsoon weeks change what we can book. Pair with Nainital; do not treat Corbett as a same-day add-on from the lake.

Jim Corbett

Famous for

  • India’s first national park, in the Ramganga terai
  • Jeep safari by notified zone — permit and season apply
  • Tiger country, with no sighting guaranteed
  • Forest resorts outside the core, used as the night base
  • A natural pairing after two Nainital nights

Best time to visit

  • November to June: the working safari window for most zones
  • December to March: cooler forest, higher demand
  • April to June: warmer; animals nearer water on some days
  • Monsoon: several zones close; we do not sell a “closed park” week

Jim Corbett through the seasons

Winter

The most booked safari months. Cold mornings in the jeep.

Spring

Still open, slightly greener, still busy on weekends.

Early summer

Heat in the terai; some zones stay productive.

Monsoon

Core access shrinks. Choose another Uttarakhand week.
