Krang Suri Falls

A turquoise pool in the Jaintia Hills — not on the Sohra railing loop

A separate road, a separate half-day

Krang Suri sits in Jaintia country, not on the Sohra cliff road. The photograph is the blue-green basin under a wide fall. Getting there is a different drive from Shillong than Nohkalikai. Do not stack it with Dawki and Sohra on the same afternoon.

The pool colour fades with silt. Swimming rules change. Stairs and rocks need care. October to April is the window we prefer.

Krang Suri Falls

Famous for

  • A wide fall into a coloured basin
  • Jaintia Hills rather than the Sohra shelf
  • A photograph that depends on silt and sun
  • A half-day that needs its own road time
  • Quieter than the main Sohra railings on some weekdays

Best time to visit

  • October to April: clearer water, safer rock
  • After heavy rain: more volume, less colour
  • Monsoon: often a poor idea
  • Morning: kinder light in the bowl
