Wei Sawdong Falls

Stepped turquoise pools under Sohra — stairs down, the same stairs back up

A walk, not a viewpoint from the car

Wei Sawdong sits in a stepped gorge below the Sohra shelf. The photograph is the pool and the rock terraces. Reaching it means a steep stair and a careful floor. It is not Nohkalikai. Do not send a rushed family here at the end of a seven-stop day.

Water is prettier with some rain in the system, but the stairs are safer when they are not a stream. Swimming is not always allowed and is never the point of our package.

Wei Sawdong Falls

Famous for

  • Terraced pools under a Sohra cliff
  • A stair trail rather than a roadside rail
  • Colour that shifts with silt and sun
  • A quieter fall than Nohkalikai’s viewing deck
  • The add-on we only sell when legs and time exist

Best time to visit

  • October to April: safer stairs
  • After light rain: better colour without a flood
  • Monsoon: often closed or unwise
  • Morning: less heat in the gorge
